The challenge:
Barcelona has so many beautiful works of art splashed in its streets, that we could say walking it feels like an outdoor museum sometimes, but there is no information out there of where it is or who made it or even some information on the artwork, how can we solve this?
The goal:
Guide the visitor through the neighborhoods and streets of Barcelona, create art routes and discover not only free art but also discover new parts of the city.
The product:
Design an app a for a public street art museum to advertise exhibitions, events and provide different paths or art routes to patrons who can then have access to information on the artist and the artwork.
Pain Point 1
Users don't feel they get enough information or backstory on the art.
Pain Point 2
Users love to see the art in the museum but in such a vibrant city like Barcelona, where streets are alive with street art, there is no interactive guide through this city outdoors museum.
Pain Point 3
There are events that have low attendance due to the lack of information available for public to be aware of these events

User Flow
Paper wireframes
First we present a map with the option to search a designated area (neighborhood)
Then we suggest different routes that take different amounts of time
Once we start the route you can select the first artwork to find out more about it and its author
Usability Study Round 1
I conducted a moderated, virtual usability study on the low-fidelity prototype with five participants. Findings from the first study helped guide the designs from wireframes to mockups. Primary findings in round one were:
We add a splash page to introduce our service
We allow the possibility of scanning a QR code to see the information on any artwork we might run into outside of the route.
You can now favorite, save, and bookmark your favorite artworks and even submit your own pictures if you found a new one or wanted to add snaps of one that already exists.
We add Artists and events to our menu

Usability Study Round 2
I conducted a second round moderated, virtual usability study and used a high-fidelity prototype to probe, what (if any) aspects of the mockups needed refining/improving/changing. Round two findings were that users found the app easy and intuitive to use.
Mockups
I revised the design so that the duration of the route option was removed since users didn’t find a use for it.
The second usability study revealed that generally users enjoy the experience of the Under app and find it intuitive. No suggestions for improvement were received.
